Kurt Rightmyer was born in New Jersey and came of age on the legendary motocross tracks of Southern California. He also excelled both on the football field and in the classroom. Pushed to society's margins by his early twenties, Kurt immersed himself in the Southern California punk rock culture and took up residence in a notoriously haunted house in Claremont. His documented experiences caught the eye of psychological researchers from the University of Missouri.
Kurt worked in forensics for five years and became well-versed in laboratory techniques. He then earned his bachelor's degree in English from UCLA and taught in Japan for two years.
Upon returning to America he joined the local sumo wrestling scene and won five California State and one US National amateur sumo titles over the next six years. In 2003 he won the California Sumo Series and ran for governor in the special recall election. He appeared on The Tonight Show starring Jay Leno, along with sixty-odd other spots during the six-week campaign.
He soon became interested in film and television and provided Motorola with the rough-cut video for its 2007 Super Bowl television commercial advertisement.
Today he lives a somewhat gentler life on the Central Coast of California with his wife and two children. Kurt's current interests include screenwriting, poetry, glass painting, photography, and composing original blues songs on guitar and harmonica.
